Haha how fortuitous! I just installed letterbox for the first time, and was really frustrated by the pane widths issue! Can't wait for beta 6... hope to see it soon.

Hey, this is great. It's my new favorite add-in. I'm using Mail again because of this.

I did find a bug, can't seem to find anything in the comments about it:
I cannot Show/Hide the preview pane from the View menu drop down. It doesn't do anything any more.

I can change the position of the pane without any problems, but want to hide it once I am not viewing any messages, so it doesn't take the whole screen. Basically looking for functionality similar to the Drawer in Echofon.

Also, not sure if it's possible to add a keyboard command to that menu item. That's just me being ambitious. Great work so far. Humble donation for this on the way. Thanks!

A thousand blessings upon you, Mr. Harnly! I am ready to return to the fold once my subject pane remembers its place! :)

Hello good folk, Aaron here. I apologize for my long absence.

I'm working on a major update with a proper installer and self-updating. But given the long delay and the vexation caused by those two chief bugs (forgetting the pane widths, and sometimes not loading), maybe I should release an Beta 6 that just fixes those?

I think I'll do that today at lunchtime, then. It will still be a manual install, etc., but should address those two annoyances.

WideMail has been working consistently for me, but it required a little more "tweaking" to get it so. If you poke around Dane Harnett's website you'll find the various issues. Chief among them is that you must configure an extra character on the subject line of the "WideMail Column", else any mail that arrives with no subject will crash Mail.app, and cause all sorts of havoc. That, and that alone for me, is the matter I'm hoping Mr. Harnett corrects, should he ever return to the project. Still hoping, though, that Mr. Harnly will take care of that subject-column-width-thing...

WideMail crashed Mail consistently for me. But, I hear it worked for some people. For me, no. This is the best solution out there.

Hi guys. Does Widemail work for any of you in a consistent way since development here seems to have ceased? Thank you. d

Could it be that the developer is waiting to release the next beta until 10.6.3 is complete. This is blind speculation, but, his last release was just before 10.6.2. Can I get a "halla" from the developer? Halla? No?

I hate to sound whiney over little things, but that subject column width thing has been a deal-breaker. If it were a hot-key kind of fix I would more easily get over it, but I am just vision-impaired-enough that trying to grab the column border at the right spot to drag it smaller triggers that tiny negative twinge. Widemail right now is the lesser "evil" (I use that term advisedly...both make my email-life much easier), only requiring a subject-line user tweak to make it work consistently (you'd have to read Harnett's web site for details)...set it once, forget it. Again, no regrets for the donation here, but (to flog an expired equine) I usually donate to betas to encourage further development. Hoping Aaron's challenges ease, and he is able to get back into this coding project with renewed vigor!
